Indian food is as varied as India, every region and state having
its characteristic dishes, and you can get them all here. Western
restaurants abound, if you wish a taste of home, but being in India
demands dining on Indian food.
Mumbai is one of the most popular travel destination of Western

a sweet and spicy combination of puffed rice, onions, boiled
potatoes, puri, coriander, mint, chililes and chutney.
· Pav bhaji is a potpourri of cooked and spiced vegetables
such as peas, peppers, tomatoes, potatoes and onions accompanied by
a bread bun.
· Panipuri are lightweight puffed semolina or flour cakes,
eaten with a filling of boiled pulses (lentils), spices, tamarind
chutney and spicy water.
Though these distinctly Mumbai delicacies are available from street
vendors at every corner, we preferred you to trying them in good
quality restaurants only.
Mumbai Drinks:
Mumbai drink water is not really pure and safe for visitors. So you
need to boil, buy and purify many varieties and several different
sizes. Local and International brands of soft drinks like Lima and
Thumsup are also available. Fruit Juice and other drinks are sold at
cafes and juices stalls. They come in exotic varieties such as
mango, custured apple and lychee. You can also take a taste of
Alcoholic drinks. Foster's is the first international brewer to
invest in local operations, they have opened a plant in the
Maharastrian town of Aurangabad.
Food Served in Mumbai Weddings:
After the marriage ceremony is done with, guests sit down to a
traditional meal served on a banana leaf. The meal is entirely
vegetarian in nature and is created without any onion or garlic. It
consists of a selection of vegetables in coconut gravy, green mango
chutney, cucumber and peanut salad, rice,
puris, golden dal called `varan' and a sweet dish like jalebi,
creamy basundi or saffron-scented shrikhand. `Mattha' or
coriander-flavoured, salted buttermilk complements the meal which
ends with a sweet `paan' called `vida'.
Eating Out in Mumbai
The best place to sample the city's legendary fast food is khau
Galii, a small laneway off Zaveri Bazaar packed with interesting
food stalls. Little Italy, Trattoria, Thai me up, Barista Coffee
Bar, Kandhar, Mainand China, and Indigo are the most popular
restaurants of Mumbai. Most of the budget restaurants of mumbai
are open early morning until 11:30 pm. More upscale restaurants
usually serve only lunch and dinner.
